It is 10:25 AM. I am on a 20 minute break during my 3 hour “Drugs R Us” class. At 10:10 AM, just 15 minutes ago, Steve Jobs introduced the iPad, Apple’s new tablet product. It is .5 inches thin, weighs 1.5 pounds and has 10 hours of battery life. There has been a ton of hype about this release recently, and I think the Wall Street Journal nailed the feeling with this quote: “Last time there was this much excitement about a tablet, it had some commandments written on it.” I doubt I will end up buying one because I don’t really need more computing power (I have an iMac and a macbook, as well as an iTouch), but I still think the iPad will change the market. What would be super awesome is if the iPad saved the newspaper business by allowing daily electronic downloads of big papers for like 5 cents. Looks like the screen is big and bright enough that it wouldn’t be annoying to read on.
Right now as I follow the live feed from San Fransisco they are talking about games and apps for the iPad. I think they’re going after all those Windows gamers. Oooo, class is starting again…
