Wow.
The Mr. Spartan 2010 Pageant was last night.
The guys and girls raised $108,909.76. And that’s before a $15,000 donation from Mario Pastega. (math: Total = $123,909.76). The money goes to the Good Samaritan Regional Cancer Center and the Mario Pastega House. At the end of the night, Wil Cooper was crowned Mr. Spartan 2010 and Sean Brown was runner up.
I had an awesome week with the Mr. Spartan crew and the pageant was a fantastic sendoff. I have to say it was the most tightly ran pageant I’ve ever seen, not to mention that the talents were really strong this year.
A quick rundown of what people did:
Michael Grant creating an entire song by himself onstage
Scott Havard broke out a rancid rap
Wil Cooper performed his hillarious ‘invisible woman’ skit, with Alania Adams topping it off on a giraffe unicycle. (she was in my skit last year also on one wheel)
Edward Pham and crew did brake dancing.
Daniel Cespedes sang, played, and danced to scottish music he recorded and mixed
Sean Brown had an awesome video that showcased his many talents
Kipp Godfrey sang a heartfelt song instead of hanging out with baseball buddies
Collin Peterson played his mandolin and sang an uproarious and witty song.
Banner Schafer tried out for a band and Samira Potts helps him pick the guitar over singing.
Josh Woodes performed an upbeat dance with his partner Jamie Clark
Tyler McFadden starts out annoying Alana Schaffer with a snare drum, but then set a different tone playing a peaceful peace on the marimba.
Philip Campbell’s coffee shop skit included a video highlighting his and partner Heidi Anderson’s past achievements.
The girls involved who worked equally as hard as the guys to put everything together: Itzel MagaƱa, Haley Schuster, Alania Adams, Lani Penner, Marissa Hendrickson, Danelle Finnen, J.C. Walrod, Mina Zarnegin, Samira Potts, Jamie Clark, Alana Schafer, and Heidi Anderson.
The Head Coordinators this year were: Annie Spiegelberg, Jenessa Duncombe, and Katie Zajicek
The treasurer: Anna Spatafora
And the Junior Girls: Maja Birdwell, Laurel Goldner, Kiah Gourley, and Niki Zalesky.
I have tons and tons of pictures. But those will be coming up over the next couple of days. For now, I leave you with this: The reaction to the big check.
